Description

MEDOX Oral Solution Doxycycline, semi-synthetic, tetracycline derivative is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It has a bacteriostatic effect against a large number of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It inhibits the binding of the aminoacyl tRNA to the acceptor in the mRNA ribosome by binding to the receptor in the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and inhibits protein synthesis as it cannot bind the amino acid to the peptide chain. Bacteria in which doxycycline is effective are as follows;

Gram-positive aerobic bacteria (Bacillus sp., Corynebacterium sp., Erysipelothrixrhusiopathia, Listeriamono cytogenes and Streptococci), Gram negative bacteria (Actinobacillus sp., Bordetella sp., Francisellatularensis, Haemophilus sp., Pasteurellamultocida, P. haemolytica, Yersinia sp., Campylobacterfetus, Borrelia sp., Leptospira sp. And Moraxellabovis), anaerobic bacteria (Actinomyces sp., Fusobacterium sp.) And Mycoplasma, Chlamydia sp., Ehrlichia sp.

Due to acquired resistance, Staphylococci, Enterococci, Enterobacter sp., Enterobacteriaceae, Enterobacter sp., E.coli, Klepsiella sp., Proteus sp., Salmonella sp., Bacteroides sp. And the effect of Clostridiumsp is variable.

Mycobacterium sp., Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Serratia sp., Mycoplasma bovis and M. Hyopneumoniae are considered resistant to tetracyclines.

When administered orally, it achieves effective blood concentration and maintains an effective level of 6-12 hours. The bioavailability is 80-90% on average. Since the oil / water distribution coefficient is high, it shows a very wide distribution in the body. Doxycycline is the lowest and the biological half-life of renal clearance is the longest tetracycline derivative and is excreted in microbiologically inactive form with feces. It accumulates 5-10 times higher concentrations in bile than in plasma. Part of the doxycycline thrown into the intestines with bile and is reabsorbed into enterohepatic circulation
