TILOMED 30% Oral Solution is an effective formulation against Tilmicosine sensitive Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. Semi-synthetic macrolide group synthesized from tilmicosine is an antibacterial. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacterial cells. It is similar to tilosin in terms of effect spectrum but is more effective against Pasteurella sp.
The major susceptible bacteria are Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactica, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Clostridium perfringens, Mycoplasma sp.
After oral administration in poultry, it is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and spread rapidly from the blood to infection sites. In the lung (2.3 μg / ml) and in the air sacs (3.29 μg / ml), the highest concentration of Tilmicosin reaches 48 hours after treatment, reaching the highest plasma level of 10 μg / ml in 84 hours. Tilmicosin is found in the lungs and air sacs 6 hours after the application. The highest drug concentration in the lung is 6.2 times larger than serum. It is partially dimethyl and hydroxylated or reduced to sulphate. Mainly, it has a high density in the liver and kidneys, and in a lesser proportion it is distributed to the muscles and fats. It is excreted by urine and biliary tract.
