UNITHRO PLUS 2 is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in animals such as chronic respiratory disease (CRD).
Composition (per 1 gm)
- Erythromycin 90 mg
- Sulfadiazine 75 mg
- Trimethoprim 15 mg
Indications
- Erythromycin and other macrolide antibiotics inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the 235 RNA molecule (in the 50s subunit) of the bacterial ribosome blocking the exit of the growing peptide chain of sensitive microorganisms.
- Sulfadiazine is a competitive inhibito of the bacterial enzyme dihydropteroate synthetase. This enzyme is needed for the proper processing of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) which is essential for folic acid synthesis Trimethoprim binds to dihydrofolate reductase and inhibits the reduction of dihydrofolic acid (DHF) to tetrahydrofolic acid (THF).
- Poultry and Duck Prevention and treatment of Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD), bronchopneumonia, fowl typhoid, salmonellosis, collbacillosis, fowl cholera, enteritis.
Dosage
- Poultry, Preventive: 1 gm per 4 Litres of drinking water
- Treatment 1 gm per 2 Litres of drinking water during 3-5 days.
