Description

Isopropyl alcohol, colorless, flammable liquid is known from a variety of other names. For example, in the laboratory it may be simply expressed by isopropanol, isopro, iso, isopropyl or abbreviation IPA. It is also sometimes referred to as 2-propanol, possibly an inorganic compound having an isomer also known as propanol. Of course, isoparopil alcohol is most commonly known as simple spirits.

Isopropyl alcohol, also known as isopropanol; clear, a mixture of ethanol and acetone has an odor; is a flammable alcohol. It forms solutions in all ratios with water, ethanol, acetone, chloroform and benzene, can be subjected to all typical reactions of secondary alcohols, giving strong reactions with strong oxidizing agents. Isopropyl alcohol, which is used as a low-cost solvent in many applications, is similar to ethyl alcohol in terms of solvent properties and evaporation rate. In case of combustion, decomposition forms carbon monoxide which is toxic.

It is useful to use in lacquers, inks and thinners in terms of high latent solvent power, moderate evaporation rate and complete solution with many other solvents for cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate butyrate and cellulose acetate propyanate. The use of isopropyl alcohol in the production of monoisoprolamine for herbicides is the fastest growing segment in terms of use, while its use as solvent in coatings and inks remains either the same or only slightly increased.

As solvent; extraction and purification of natural products such as vegetable and animal oils, gum resins, waxes, colorants, flavors, alkaloids, vitamins and alginates; as a carrier in the production of foodstuffs; purification, crystallization and precipitation of organic chemicals; and synthetic polymers such as phenolic varnishes and nitrocellulose lacquers.

Also as solvent; cosmetics, hair tonics, perfumes, skin lotions, hair coloring rinsers, skin cleansers, deodorants, nail polish, shampoo, hair sprays, room sprays are included in the formulations.

As coating and paint solvent; cement, primer, paint and ink production, liquid soap and detergent cleaning and drying agent.

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA); it is also used for the production of acetone and its derivatives and other chemicals such as isopropyl acetate, isopropylamine, diisopropyl ether, isopropyl xanthate, fatty acid esters, herbicidal esters and aluminum isopropoxide.

Other Area of Usage; cooling agent in beer production; dehydrating agent in polyvinyl fluoride production; polymerization modifier; and aroma agent in household and personal care products.
